Amazingly good quality at half the price of a furniture or bedding store.

This mattress is a very nice quality. It is super thick, sturdy and plush while being firm as well. I am a big lady, not tall, but heavy and when I get up 8-10 hours after laying down there is barely a dent where I was laying, so the mattress is obviously not made of cheap material. It is comfortable but has taken a bit of getting used to because I have had traditional mattresses my entire life and memory gel is an entirely different feeling. The mattress has also firmed up slightly after being around for a couple of days, so it while it is still plush on top, its not as hard to move around in like it was the first night where we felt like we had to dig our way out of it to turn. The pressure points of pain in my arms and hips are no longer a problem, and I am not woken by those pain areas on this mattress at all. I find myself waking fewer times per night and going back to sleep much faster if I do wake up. There was really no smell at all when we opened our mattress, and it only took a minute or two to regain its perfectly normal, even shape after unwrapping it. We had 2 day shipping so there was no damage to the packing material as others have experienced and we waited hardly any time at all to receive the mattress. My only issue with it is a minimal one. The warmth. This is a cool gel mattress, and yet I find the one thing that does wake me up is that the area I am laying in does tend to get rather warm after a few hours of laying on it. Its not insurmountable, as soon as I roll over or move slightly the heat dissipates and I fall back to sleep. I have slept on a traditional memory foam mattress at a friends house before and this mattress is not nearly as warm as those are so the cool gel does seem to work as there is not nearly as much heat built up as other memory foam, I just think there is no way to ever truly get rid of all the body heat in such a dense material. Overall though, the quality is outstanding for the price, the mattress arrived super fast without damage, and with the new steel bed frame we bought which also serves as a foundation, this was a STEAL compared to buying the same mattress at a furniture or bedding store. Even Bobs Discount was over twice the price for the mattress alone compared to what we paid here for a mattress AND bed frame. I would recommend this mattress and actually plan on buying my daughter one in full sized for Christmas.

Fit in waterbed frame!

Was very surprised, I slept on it the first night. It had sheets on it within twenty min of unrolling. Lol if I could give one piece of advice this would be it. Make sure the thing is exactly where you want it before you start cutting the plastic off. It weighed a ton! I got a California king. My waterbed mattress had a leak( always hated that thing) anyway and I decided to try the regular mattress route. Worked perfectly. I bought the 12 inch, and it’s every bit 12 inch. The mattress is firm. You can sit up in the bed without sliding down. Like actually sit.I’ve had it a few days now and it seems to contour to your body. So say your laying on it after youve been in one spot a bit you can feel your body sink ever so slightly into the position your laying. I have always had alot of back problems and I didn’t wake up the next day thinking I was going to die. If you have problems with your back you know what I mean. It’s like grab for the walls or side of the bed when you get up. I felt just the same when I got up as I did when I went to bed. That in itself is a big plus for me. I’m thinking it will soften more in time but still be firm if that makes sense. Now as you can see in pictures I have a waterbed so I put the mattress on the plywood base. It took every bit of it up. With some pushing I was able to still put my side rails on. But it is in there. I had to have help putting the sheets on, ( dreamfit is what I use) let’s just say that’s not a hey let’s take the sheets off and wash today spur of the moment thing. I’ll need help and I am def not a weak person. With it being boxed in on all four sides, again waterbed Frame it’s more difficult. Don’t make the mistake I did either. It doesn’t say top or bottom. The grey goes on the bottom, the white on top. I’m happy with my purchase. I didn’t have to go anywhere it was delivered to my front door step. Oh yea, the California king was like 110 pounds. The ups guy dropped it in my porch. I was able to pick it up on one side and drop it over and then slide in my house. This girl can pick up some weight but this is not a one person job unless your a strong ass dude. It was nicely wrapped nothing on it as in marked up or anything. You’d think you went to a mattress store and purchased it, there’s no difference.Oh one last thing for those people with waterbeds. My wood frame is 8 inches on the sides and ends. Like I said earlier I put 14 in it and added my rails back. So it will work but your mattress will be higher that rails. That didn’t matter to me because the comforter will cover but it might bother others. The rails are extremely tight fit but they work.

Just the Right Combination of Support & Cushioning - Love This Mattress!

I admit that I was a bit leery at buying a new mattress online, and without an opportunity to first test it in person. I also had no prior experience with foam mattresses, or "mattresses in a box." But the more I researched this option, including the many helpful reviews here, the more I was inclined to take a chance. After reading hundreds of reviews, both on Amazon and on other sites, I settled on the Acesleep Cool Gel Ultimate Memory Foam Mattress (California King). The mattress arrived in a large and rather heavy bag a few days later. My wife and kids helped me to wrestle the bag into the bedroom, where we unpacked the compressed mattress. It took a good 4 or 5 days for the "new mattress smell" to disappear, and so we did not sleep on the mattress right away. After sleeping on a lumpy conventional mattress for the past 15 years, and within a body-shaped cavity in the mattress that had developed over the years, I was amazed at how comfortable this gel/foam mattress was to sleep on. Having undergone multiple lumbar spine surgeries in the past, waking up in the morning on the old mattress meant several hours of low back (and neck) stiffness and pain that lasted for several hours each day. In the almost 2 months that I’ve been sleeping on this new mattress, I have not had any significant back or neck stiffness or pain in the morning. The gel/foam combination is also cool to the touch, and so there is no overheating with this mattress. What I have found most surprising is how well this foam mattress combines a somewhat firm level of support with just the right (for me, anyway) amount of cushioning. I am a side-sleeper, and so firm mattresses usually leave me with achy joints in the morning, while too-soft beds leave me with back and neck pain. My typical weight is about 185 pounds, and for me, this mattress is firm enough to keep my spine from sagging during the night, but the upper gel-foam layer also provides just the right amount of cushioning to gently pad my joints and skin. Since individual comfort with any given mattress is highly subjective, and varies from one person to another, I cannot claim that this mattress would be ideal for any or all potential buyers. In my case, though, I have to agree with the reviewers who noted that this mattress is so comfortable that it is hard to force yourself to get out of bed in the morning. Finally, I cannot attest as to the durability and longevity of this mattress, as I’ve only been sleeping on it for just under two months, so far. (Perhaps I will update this review in about a year.) For the price of this premium foam mattress, however, even if it remains in good shape for another 5 years, I would gladly buy another, and I would still save a lot of money over the usual 10-year lifespan of a mattress given the several thousand dollars that comparable mattresses sell for in most mattress stores.

A Mattress With A Forgiving Firmness

CHOOSING THIS MATTRESSMy old mattress had been sagging in the center and I was long overdue for a new mattress. Consequently my back had been hurting for some time. I’m a side/stomach sleeper with very broad shoulders (I wear a 52-inch suit coat). My previous mattress was a conventional spring mattress, with a pillow top which I really liked it brand new. And was hoping the 12-Inch Acesleep Cool Gel Memory Foam might provide a similar feel…a somewhat spongey top layer under-girded by firmness. Acesleep describes this mattress as "Medium-Firm Feel with Firm Support". Since all three words cover the entire mattress spectrum, I’m not sure how any mattress can be described using all three words! I kinda disregarded that and instead relying on the many Acesleep reviews…hoping the mattress would be closer to the middle…medium. The 12-inch depth also compelled me…because all things equal, a thicker mattress will last longer. I tend to run hot so the top layer of cool memory gel foam would be greatly appreciated during summer. And was also encouraged by over 1,200 reviews with a 4.5 rating.SHIPPINGSince I live in a small condo complex, there’d be no one around to accept a weekday delivery. I’m sure it would’ve grown legs had delivery guy left it at the front gate. So I had it shipped to my work. I ordered on a late Friday night with Acesleep initially indicated delivery on a Wednesday/Thursday. It actually showed up on Tuesday (a day or two early).DELIVERYThe outer box was absolutely thrashed. So badly torn, it was heavily taped in several areas. With the UPS guy impatiently waiting next to me I took my time to inspect the mattress to the best of my ability (since i couldn’t actually fully open the box). Fortunately it was shrink wrapped pretty darn well in heavy duty plastic and didn’t notice any tears in the shrink wrap or damage to the mattress. If you buy online have the mattress shipped to a location where you (or a trusted friend) can carefully inspect for any rips, tears or stains. Realize that a queen-sized mattress or larger will weigh about 100lbs. So if you decide to accept the mattress and later return, it’ll cost you $75 or more in shipping fees…assuming you can even get it back into a box. FYI, you are well within your rights to refuse the shipment but you can only refuse at the time of delivery. If you’re not at home and the box is just left on your porch or at your front door, you waive all rights of refusal.MATTRESS SETUPThe bedroom is on the second floor of my condo. A hand truck was easy enough to roll it from my company’s van to the front door. I had to get a friend to help me get this beast up the stairs. Once upstairs everything was relatively easy…getting it out of the box…laying it out on the bed platform…cutting open the shrink wrap. Once the shrink wrap was removed, it achieved full size in less than a minute. I opened the windows for ventilation, then returned to work.FEEL/SMELLFYI, I am 5’10" 225lbs and built like a linebacker. Although the top layer has a soft feel, I wouldn’t describe it as plush. And, I’m certainly not sinking into the mattress…definitely closer to firm than medium. I’d like to say the mattress has a forgiving firmness. Admittedly, I have a low sense of smell. When I sniff just a couple of inches away from the mattress, there’s no pungent odor however a faint synthetic smell. Regarding the heat factor typically noticed on many foam mattresses, I haven’t noticed any retention of heat. Some reviewers of foam mattresses say the edge is notoriously soft…so if you sit on the edge or lie near the edge beware. Again, I’m a pretty big guy and sitting on the edge I notice just a little more give compared to my spring mattress. As far as lying near..in fact right on the very the edge, no complaints. I feel completely safe and don’t notice any sag.EXTRA STUFFGiven the 12" mattress height might be significantly larger that previously owned mattresses, you might need to purchase different linens. Considering the mattress weight, rotating the mattress or replacing the linens might be a challenge if you have difficulty lifting or if the bed is set in a corner.TBDI mentioned that I tend to run hot. So having a cooler top layer would be awesome. I’m not so much concerned right now (during the winter months). When summer rolls around the temperature here tends to be in the mid-nineties. We’ll have to see if the top layer is as cool and comfortable as advertised. That’s several months away so I’ll have to give y’all an update then.

  1. Not sure but I returned due to not being satisfied
  2. No, no spring box needed. But you gonna need a bigger room if you get a king California
  3. Sure. I have had mine close to a year and I really love it.
  4. Hi, it depends on the size mattress you choose to order. I got the CalKing, and it was about 5 feet tall, about three feet thick. It's rolled up like a giant burrito in a large rectangular box, and very heavy. Get help in lifting it. It was over 100 pounds. Good luck!
  5. Yes, but most likely you'll need help! Even the Queen size is quite heavy... I want to say the description said it weighs 90lbs.
  6. I too have scoliosis, so hopefully my experience with this bed helps. This bed is more on the firmer side and is considered a medium plush by the manufacturer. Your body does not sink into the memory foam, but it contours very well. I find this bed to really help relieve pressure on my back and hips. The bed is not very firm, but it is firmer compared to other memory foam beds.
  7. I would say 2 foot by two foot by 7 foot long..That's my best guess. Its been a few months since I got it.
  8. Yes, so as long as your frame adjusts to its size then it would fit
